SENIOR MECHANICAL/LEAD PLUMBING ENGINEER

Position Type: Full time, salaried, starting immediately

We have an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding, creative, and energetic Mechanical/Lead Plumbing engineer interested in growing with the firm.  The right individual can develop this position into the Plumbing Department Head for the company.  Position responsibilities include designing plumbing systems, maintaining plumbing department standards, developing new standards, plumbing design quality control, training junior engineers, and working closely with the Principals in building the plumbing department.  The position requirements and preferences are summarized below:

Position Requirements:  

  • BSME from an accredited University Mechanical Engineering Program
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD)
  • U.S. Citizen
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in the design and evaluation of domestic water systems, sanitary systems, fire protection systems and HVAC systems for commercial and institutional facilities.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • “Hands-on” approach to system design
  • Thorough understanding of building, mechanical, and plumbing codes
  • Project management experience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated and extremely organized
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to embrace new ideas and our unique proactive quality management philosophy and practices
  • Willing to travel if required

 

Position Preferences:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and/or DC
  • LEED AP® designation
  • Proven track record with clients in the commercial and institutional facilities profession
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance if needed
  • Knowledge of sustainable plumbing design practices
  • Comfortable organizing and running company training programs and presentations to clients
  • Working knowledge of Revit
