I had a wonderful experience on the golf course today. I had a hole in nothing. Missed the ball and sank the divot.

If you have never held a golf club and attempted to hit a little white dimpled ball on the ground, you have deprived yourself of the opportunity to be humbled and humiliated over and over again. That's the game of golf.....whether you are playing on a course, practicing at a driving range......OR playing at a company outing to TopGolf.

There are a variety of play options to choose from at TopGolf depending on your level of skill. Since we had many different skill levels in our group, we opted to play the TopGolf's signature game where players score points by hitting balls (assigned using microchip technology) into any target. The more accurate the shot and the farther the distance, the more points earned. We played in teams of 6 (randomly selected between both companies).

To score any points at all one had to.........

First, line up the club positioned toward the target.

Next, take the proper stance (feet apart, head down, hands forward, not too close to the ball, and yada, yada, yada...)

Then, swing away........

Last, get a score.....or not......

Now don't get me wrong. Golf is a great game. People love the challenge to beat the course for their personal best, and strive to outscore the rest of the players. Competing on a driving range was no different. Everyone who plays golf knows how humbling it can be and that no matter how good you are you can shank a ball, hook a ball, slice a ball, miss a ball, and hit far enough behind a ball that your divot is as big as the Commonwealth of Virginia. That's why we root for everyone, no matter what their level of play. A great shot is a great shot no matter who makes it.

So, while some were taking their turns, others were rooting them on and enjoying visiting, competing, and lunching with colleagues....... and, yes, getting their picture taken by me.......

Not exactly the 19th hole, but close enough. A great day all around.
